Our treatments against cellulite

Despite its name, cellulite is not an inflammation of the cells. The term refers to deposits of fat that are caught between the fibres that hold the deeper layers of tissue to the skin and push against the subcutaneous connective tissue, giving the skin a highly characteristic irregular, bumpy appearance. Cellulite affects mainly the area of the thighs and buttocks, though it may also appear on the abdomen, calves and arms.

According to surveys, 80 % of women have cellulite-and the rest think they will have it!

Cellulite occurs more frequently among women because their subcutaneous fat is not as deep as men’s and their skin is thinner. The occurrence of cellulite is determined by a number of factors, including heredity, gender, and percentage of body fat, age, thickness of the skin, sedentary lifestyle, inadequate hydration, poor food habits, and smoking. Furthermore, since it may appear at puberty, after pregnancy or after taking contraceptives, it may also be affected by hormones.

Over the years, there have been many treatments for getting rid of cellulite. Too often, though, they were scams or involved magical thinking and, despite the exorbitant costs, were not very successful.

The treatment of cellulite calls for a comprehensive approach and not just one treatment. Eating a balanced diet, reducing consumption of salt and caffeine and increased exercise will all help in the overall treatment of cellulite.

At the clinic, we use three different technologies for cellulite treatment: Venus Freeze™, VelaShape and Accent XL®.

Venus Legacy™:

Venus Legacy is a non-invasive treatment that combines Radio Frequency (RF) and Magnetic Pulses for a technology called (MP)². This unique combination has the ability to penetrate deeply, comfortably, and safely into the skin in order to achieve optimum results.

Venus Legacy treatments are effective in circumference reduction, reducing cellulite, skin tightening and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It is a safe, pleasant, pain-free experience that is used to treat arms, abdomen, thighs, buttocks, neck and face.

This technology uses infrared light and radio waves along with tissue mobilization.

  • The radio waves increase intracellular oxygen diffusion by heating the deep adipose tissue.
  • The infrared light increases the elasticity of the skin and heats subcutaneous fat while protecting the skin.
  • Vacuum manipulation smoothes out the skin to facilitate the transfer of light and radio-frequency energy.

The synergy of these three components makes the VelaShape™ device a more effective and long-lasting solution for cellulite.

At your consultation, Dr. Hébert first examines and decides the treatment area with you. One of our medical estheticians will perform the procedure, which usually lasts between forty-five and sixty minutes. Results are usually seen after four weeks and the program is spread over eight to ten weeks. It is also followed by a maintenance program with an occasional session to control the cellulite.
